Amika Hair Products

Not only do I love trying new products to share with my followers, but I also try products to share with my clients.  Not to long ago I finally got my hands on Amika's hair products and slowly I've been trying products that I know would benefit different hair types and textures.  These are just a few that I've been loving and using somewhat daily on myself.

* Phantom - hydrating dry shampoo foam: This is a dry shampoo in a mousse form, which I was highly intrigued with.  Most dry shampoos are spray and you spray them at your roots to give you volume, texture and get rid of the "oily" look.  This you apply in your hands like a mousse and apply it to the root.  Now I've used this and I can tell you that it is a bit gritty feeling but it gives it what you need.  Your hair doesn't feel to slick and wet and I usually put my hair in a bun or ponytail so it gives it a bit of a textured look.

*The Wizard - detangling primer: This detangler work like a miracle!  When my hair is curly and I have to come it out to put it in another style I can spray some of this and use a wet brush and it glides all the tangles out.  I've even used this on kids hair and adults whom get very knotty hair.

*Fluxus - touchable hairspray:  Hairspray I feel like is personal preference.  I like hairspray that holds, but doesn't leave white flakes or leaves your hair crunchy.  I can use this hairspray and it holds for the day leaving no white flakes.  It also comes out later in the day or following day with no problem.  This is one of two hairsprays that I truly enjoy.

*Curl Corps - defining cream:  I'm always looking for a good curl cream.  The girls and I have different curl types, but on the occasion I like to leave my hair down and curly I want my hair to look curly and not frizz.  This is a great curl cream.  It has a great hold and again I don't like crunchy hair like back in the 80's/90's.  It leaves them soft and not frizzy.

Oh...and look at this packaging!  I love how colorful it is!

If you're interested in these products let me know and we can set up an order.  S

KOPARI Beauty

During this last Sephora Rouge Sale I purchased a new skincare line called KOPARI Beauty.  I purchased the coconut rose trial kit.  This kit contains Coconut Cleansing Oil, Rose Toner, Face Cream and their lip glossy.

I love coconut, the smell and everything.  If you don't love it, this may not be something you want to try.  But let me just tell you this stuff is amazing!  I've been searching for a product that can be a one use to take off ALL makeup including mascara.

The coconut cleansing oil is definitely something you want to try out of this.  I first applied a little  water to my face and hands and put 2-3 squirts on my hand.  I then rubbed it all over my face, especially gently rubbing my eyelashes to remove the mascara.  It takes it all off!  I then grab a wash cloth and wipe it all away.

After removing all my makeup I spritz my face with the coconut rose toner, which smells divine and feels refreshing.  I then apply a small amount of the coconut face cream on and a little goes a long way.  I say I probably use a time size dollop.  To finish it off I put a little of the lip glossy on and it takes away all the dryness.

This leaves my face well hydrated at night and then I like to use it again in the morning.  The winter months are just behind us and I've been using it now that the weather has warmed up.  I tend to start becoming oilier now that it gets hot, but this is not making my makeup feel like it's sliding off my face.

These are definitely items that I will be repurchasing and keeping in my skincare rotation.  I'm also looking to try more of their lip glossy which come in two other flavors/colors.

My Experience with GrandeLash-MD

Cristina DiazComment
Have you ever wanted long beautiful lashes?  Well so have I!  The trend for having long lashes with out the work is growing among women faster and faster these days.  Now instead of putting on false lash strips you can go and get lash extensions, which can last you 3-4 weeks on a good set.    Lash extensions are beautiful when done correctly.  You can get up and not do anything with your lashes as far as not adding even any mascara and they look perfect.  But they can be more work then they maybe worth for some people.  You have to get them filled every few weeks, you can't get them wet really, especially the first few days, and they can take up to an hour to put on.  Now I'm not saying if this is your jam to not do it.  It just wasn't for me as far as time and patience with them. I've heard for years about people using lash serum to grow there lashes, so I saw one that I was able to obtain on a continuous basis with out having to order.  Grande Lash is the brand.  They have tubes that are 3 or 6 month supply, but I think that you get a little bit longer then that, so I get the 3 month tube.  Also I wanted to try it before completely committing to it.  All you have to do with the lash serum is apply it once a day on the base of your lashes, so I do it nightly after washing my face.      Unfortunately I never took a before picture so I can't show you a close and personal difference. It's been 2 years in May 2018 that I've been using it and I love this stuff!  At first I didn't see much of a difference, but really who sees a difference the first month.  Haha...  But I did notice my lashes getting stronger month by month.  It helps your own lashes from falling out and staying strong.  I would say by month 3 or 4 is when I actually started seeing a difference from my short sparse lashes to longer, stronger lashes.  When I put mascara on they look even longer and fuller.    I've had people even ask me if I had lash extensions on and I can excitedly say that no they're my own lashes.  The thing with this is pretty simple and you don't have to be careful with this stuff (except for not getting into your eyes).  You can go work out, wash your face, and just apply nightly and your lashes will grow.  Now if you stop using Grande Lash or any other lash serum your eyelashes go back to where they started.  If you want to give it a try you can purchase it through me, just send me an email.  So I say give it a try and let me know how it works for you!

Keto Way of Eating - Week 2

Cristina DiazComment

So this week I kept up with the "Keto way of life".  I'm happier with the way that I'm feeling and not so bloated.  This week I added a smidge on my fat percentage, but I'm okay with that.  I did enjoy a few more cards then you're supposed to, but I say it's all in moderation and enjoy what you're eating.

Using the app Myfitnesspal has helped me stay in the game and watch my calories and my macros to stay in range.  I also make sure that when I do goto the grocery store I don't buy things that will tempt me.  It's definitely hard to not eat noodles and rice when the girls are eating spaghetti or chicken and rice.  But then I add a few things, usually different kinds of cheese it makes it all better.

Being busy a few things that sometimes stump you when looking for lunch and dinner you just have to think out of the box.  There was a night that we had to get fast food and we chose Chick-fil-a.  Now, here's one of the times,  where I just added a bit more carbs .  I ordered a kids meal with the breaded chicken nuggets.  But I was ok with that.  Another time I had to make that dreaded pit stop at the grocery store to get something to make for dinner.  Something quick and easy - italian sausages!  I just pan fried them and added a avocado and cheese.  It doesn't sound like much but it made me full and was delicious.

It's a matter of staying conscious on what you eat and sometimes enjoying little bits of other foods.

Trying the Keto Way of Eating

Cristina DiazComment

So last week I have officially started eating the Keto way.  It's something that I started a while ago and found it somewhat successful.  Never really staying on it as life as a working mother can sometimes get a "tad" overwhelming.  My goal this time is to keep on it for at least 8 weeks as summer is quickly approaching.  I feel the way you eat has a lot to do with how you feel, look and move about with your daily life.

The Keto way of eating is where you have your daily food intake is more fat, then protein and minimal carbs.  We're talking under 10% of carbs.  There's websites/apps that offer a Keto calculator that with some of your information can give you a calorie goal and percentages on what you're looking to work on.

Now don't get me wrong....  I LOVE carbs!  I just know that carbs right now make me feel bloated; and at the awesome age of 40 it adds weight.  Now when I was younger and before having my gorgeous girls I could wipe out a whole container of my all time favorite chips a'hoy cookies.

As I workout I'm looking at cookbooks and meal plans to keep me ahead of schedule.  As a working, busy mom I need to know ahead what I'm having or else I can get extremely "hangry"!  So I try and at least plan the day or 2 ahead because with our schedule things can change in a matter of hours to a day.  Some good resources I have found are my go to's at the moment are  Pinterest, Fit 2 Fat 2 Fit, and Taste-a-holics websites.

My goal is to come on here every Sunday to let you know how my journey is going.  Now the girls don't need to eat this way and won't follow such a plan.  I cook the same types of foods (so I don't have to make multiple meals), but I also add sides like rice, potatoes, noodles for them.  I will let you know how my body adjusts to it and if it seems to be working.  I will share this and my meals on my instagram stories if you'd like to know what I eat.  I'm not a nutritionist,  it's something I'm willing to try to get to where I hope to be and feel healthier.

Let me know if you've tried this and how it's worked for you or if you're looking to try something new.

Drunk Elephant Littles ~ Review

Cristina DiazComment

I've been using the Drunk Elephant Littles since mid-Febraury, and I've been really enjoying it.  My skin type is combination/dry in the winter and combination/oily in the summer, so I change my skincare products depending on the time of year.  The package came with a pamphlet describing each product and a suggested use for them, so I decided to go ahead and use them as it said.

The cleansing bars you could use both either day or night, but I decided to use the pekee bar during the day as the juju bar is an exfoliator.  The juju bar has an easy exfoliation so it doesn't tear your skin and can be used daily.  I feel that at night it's nice to use and take all the days pollutants away.  Even my 13 year old daughter used these on her skin and fell in love with them.  We love the way your skin feels clean and fresh after using them.

During the mornings I'll use the C-Firma Day Serum and the B-Hydra Gel.  Some mornings if my face still feels rather dry I'll add the Lala Retro Whipped Cream.  Nights I use the T.L.C. Framboos Serum and the Lala Retro Whipped Cream.  I'll also add the Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil  since I've just exfoliated.  The oil sinks into your skin and doesn't leave a greasy residue on your face.  Recently it's been more cloudy then sunny here in Arizona, but when it is on the sunnier side I've added the Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense SPF 30.

I think that they're great products and have worked on my skin like a charm.  I haven't had any dry patches while using these products, which can happen if I don't put enough hydration on my skin.  My top 3 by far have to be the cleansing bars, Lala Retro Whipped Cream for its high moisture and the luxury facial oil, for that extra non-oily hydration.

Drunk Elephant has more products that I look forward to trying out.

Dazzle Dry Nail Polish

Cristina DiazComment

My trial with Dazzle Dry nail polish is a successful one.  As a hairstylist and a mom, working with people, kids and dishes all day everyday, nail polish doesn't usually last maybe more then a couple of days.  It usually gets chipped and doesn't look very attractive for other people to see or even for me to enjoy.  A client one day told me about the amazing manicure she received while she was on vacation and found out that the company was based right here in Chandler, AZ.  I love trying new things and this was something I had to try.  So I went and I purchased some.  I proceeded to follow the steps exactly, as they guarantee it for 10 days if you follow the directions.   One it says it drys in 5 minutes, which I'll tell you I was a bit skeptical.  But, it totally did!!!  I did my toes first and realized I had to run and get the girls so it was put to the test.  Socks and shoes didn't mess them up one bit.  Next, I did my finger nails and in the picture below, I've had them for a week. I don't think they look to shabby for a weeks worth of work, housework and just daily life.  I'm going to keep trying the product and next have the girls wear it, as they swim three times a week and just being active teenagers.  Keep following to see how it wears on them.

Peter Thomas Roth - Cucumber Gel Mask Review

Cristina DiazComment

I've heard a lot of good things about the Peter Thomas Roth Line.  During the holidays you can find all kinds of sample kits to try, which I always love to get.  You can get skincare, makeup and perfume kits.  So this past December when Sephora was having there VIB Rouge or 20% off sale, I picked up a few skincare kits.  The #PTR Cult Classics package I purchased had this Peter Thomas Roth Gel Mask.

A little about my skin first.  I have combination skin, but during the winters I have combo/dry skin and opposite during the summer.  As I'm getting older I like to try and make my skin stay youthful and hydrated.

My skin is so dry that I like to try and calm the redness and pulling that can sometimes happen.  It can also get patchy as well.  I pulled this mask out of the package, when I received it early December,  and tried it one morning when my skin was feeling super dry, red and patchy.  After washing my face I applied a generous layer of the mask on and let it sit for 10 minutes.  After the 10 minutes I gently washed it off and loved how it felt on my skin.  It didn't feel irritated or dry anymore and I proceeded to  put my makeup on.  The mask calmed my skin so much that it didn't leave any patchiness showing through the makeup.  The package says you can use it 1-2 times weekly or even daily.  That first week I used it daily as my skin need to get back to normal. Now that it's been about a month I use it probably twice a week so that it doesn't get to the point of being dry and patchy.

This is definitely one product that I would say everyone needs in their routine who has pretty dry skin.  Once I've gone through this sample I will definitely be repurchasing the full size.

Matching PJ's for the Girls

Cristina DiazComment

How hard is it to find matching pajamas for the family?  Now I've looked around through many sites and couldn't find ones that were cute and comfy for mom and teenagers.  But I found some!  Aerie, part of American Eagle Outfitters, has a great selection of sizes for every body type.  Their pajamas run from XXS to XXL.  So I got the girls matching pajamas, color and all and mine to match, with a different color.  Not only did we get matching pajamas, but my mother and sister got some too, for our New Years Eve pajama party!
